The subject of FMP-List is the Formosan and Malayo-Polynesian languages (i.e. the members of the Austronesian language family), including all aspects of their study, description and teaching. In particular, discussions are encouraged which deal with methodological or substantive, theoretical or descriptive, synchronic or diachronic aspects of the Austronesian languages. Discussions may focus on individual speech communities, on wider comparative issues or on the relationship between Formosan & Malayo-Polynesian languages and those of other families.
FMP-List is a completely public mailing list. This means that anybody with an interest in Formosan & Malayo-Polynesian linguistics may subscribe and participate.
